

Maulana Syed Tilmiz Hasnain Rizvi was born on January 1st, 1941, in Bihar, India. After migrating to Pakistan, he began his preliminary studies at Sultān al-Madāris, Khairpur and at the age of 15 he completed and passed Alim-Arabī course with distinction. He studied under his father, Maulana Syed Izhar ul Hasnain Rizvi, Maulana Mazahir Husain Gopalpuri as well as Maulana Muhammad Qasim. He spent two years studying in Madrasa Jamiʿah Imāmiyah, Lahore, along with Maulana Agha Jafar ibn Maulana Ali Haider (editor of Islah).

From 1972—1982 Maulana Tilmiz Hasnain Rizvi worked as an expert editor at the level of Wifaq representing Sindh Book Board. He for the Textbook Board for Primary, Elementary and Secondary schools, there he produced/contributed to 15 Syllabus Books including Arabic and Islamiyat, these books were taught across Sindh in public schools as a mandatory subject.

In 1984 in collaboration with Muslim Foundation, Al-Khoei Benevolent Foundation in New York invited Maulana Tilmiz to address the Majalis in Muharram. After that Maulana used to frequently travel to the United States until 1987. In the year 1987 he was invited to teach at Hawzah Ilmiyyah in Madina, New York and began working with Muslim Foundation in 1989 on permanent basis.
He authored various books in collaboration with Dr. Manzoor Rizvi, such as: A guide to Quran, Diniyāt in Urdu and others to be included in the Madaris in North America. Maulana Timliz translated over 30 books, some of which have been published and some are still going through the process of publishing. His translations include:
Tafsīr al-Sāfī by Mulla Fayḍ Kāshānī in seven volumes, Muntakhab Mafātiḥ al-Jinān, Imām Mahdi (a), Features and Benefits of Qurʾān, Muniyatul Mureed (Hāṣil Murād), Faḍāʾil Masjid, 40 Ḥadīth, Faḍāʾil of Ali (a), Jawahir Paray, Allama Iqbal and Ahl al-Bayt (a), Fatḥul Mubeen, Diwān Abū Ṭālib (a), Jannatul Maʿwa, Makārim al-Akhlāq, Rashaḥāt-e-Qalam, and translation of Qurʾān.
God immensely blessed Maulana Tilmiz almighty that he performed 20 Hajj throughout his life. Similarly, his love for Ahl al-Bayt (a) took him to the Ziyārat of Maʿṣūmīn countless amount of time.
In January 2021 he contracted Covid19 which affected his pulmonary fibrosis greatly and then he had pneumonia in September of the same year which further deteriorated his lungs and eventually led to his passing on September 26, it was just two days before the Chehlum of Sayyid us-Shuhadah (18th of Safar).
